I love BU hockey coach, Jack Parker. He's one of my heroes. But there are two things you need to know about him: a) he hates talking to the media and b) he takes losing personally. So, obviously he wasn't in a very good mood when he spewed this soundbite after losing 5-2 to UNH in the Hockey East semis:
"It was as bad a performance as we've had since the Lefty McFadden Tournament [when BU lost to Miami and Michigan in Dayton, Ohio] in the beginning of the year. We looked like we didn't know what we were doing. ... The entire first two periods were like we were skating in sand and were afraid to make a play. Couple that with the fact that UNH played an extremely good hockey game and made some good plays — but they didn't have to come at us too hard."
The good news is BU was already in the NCAA tourney, so they kind of get a second chance.
The bad news is BC managed to get past Maine and will meet UNH in the finals.
...
Mostly unrelated, but enough to make me happy: Former Colorado Avalanche head coach, Bob Hartley, has a hockey school going and they had a Google ad on the USCHO site. Fun!
