How Autistic Are You?

Take The AQ Test

Psychologist Simon Baron-Cohen and his colleagues at Cambridge’s Autism Research Centre have created the Autism-Spectrum Quotient, or AQ, as a measure of the extent of autistic traits in adults. In the first major trial using the test, the average score in the control group was 16.4. Eighty percent of those diagnosed with autism or a related disorder scored 32 or higher.

I scored a 21, but I’d be really curious to see how someone else (say, The Wife) would score me.

Update: Turns out I score a 24 with The Wife answering for me. I’ll take it.

  4. 4 The Wife

  5. 5 Jake

Shouldn’t you, of all people, know that?! ;)

Isn’t the opposite of Autistic Artistic?

Uh oh, I got a 27. I should probably get bonus points too, for enjoying taking quizzes like that so much.

Hmmm, i got a 31. What does that really mean? Funny, I just read a book two weeks ago about a 12 year old kid with Asperger’s.

Dude. You are right on the hazy borderlands between OCD and Autism! ;)

so yeah, i scored a 33 and i was being honest. truth be told i have always felt a kinship with autistic kids. there is a whole thing about a two dimensional world and attempting to impliment a learn framework of importance to it that i won’t get into because it is way strange. but yeah here i am…

when is doug flutie going to raise me some money?

just finished reading a great little book called ‘the curious incident of the dog in the night-time’. it is written from the perspective of an autistic person and i am definately not autistic. wierd yes, but then you knew that. high rec on reading it btw.

Funny. I think I have that in my pile. I’ll bump it up a bit.

  13. 13 ed

bump it up a lot. you can read it in about four hours.

  14. 14 Jake

That means it’ll take me a week.

  15. 15 ed

how many books can you read in a week?

  16. 16 Jake

I’m a slow reader, dude. Plus I usually only read when I go to bed, which isn’t conducive to quick progress.
It generally takes me at least a month to finish the average novel.

  17. 17 ed

change the emphasis on some of the syllables in that question so that it reads; ‘how many books can you say you can read in a week.’
